Is copyright infringement changing? In the past, copyright infringement was defined by the melody. The melody had to be almost an exact copy – and it was common knowledge that you couldn’t copyright a rhythm or chord progression.

Now it seems the definition is changing, and it’s become a lot more vague. For example, I don’t think “Blurred Lines” would have been copyright infringement 30-40 years ago, when songs like “Stairway to Heaven” were considered originals.
